Chandigarh is one of the rare towns which have natural areas within and adjacent to them. 26 square kilometer large Sukhna Wildlife sanctuary is an excellent wildlife area situated in Siwalik range. Siwalik forest with numerous water bodies created within it are excellent habitat for resident and migratory water birds. With the help and support of Chandigarh Forest Department, birdsongs were recorded during three short visits to the area for about a week or lesser duration in the months of July 2021, October 2021 and may 2022. Area covered was mainly Sukhna Wildlife sanctuary with few visits to nature Trail in Sukhna lake area. Songs of about 100 bird species were recorded including song of Nepal Wren-Babbler which is the species recorded first time in Chandigarh.
